ATLANTA – Today, Team Herschel released the following statement highlighting Raphael Warnock’s failing to support Israel.

Warnock has repeatedly defended Jeremiah Wright, who has a history of making anti-Semitic comments. Jeremiah Wright was the pastor who said “not God bless America, God d*** America.” In an interview Warnock did in 2008 with Greta Van Susteren, when she asked if he embraced Wright’s comments, Warnock replied:

“We celebrate Reverend Wright in the same way that we celebrate the truth-telling tradition of the Black church — which, when preachers tell the truth, very often it makes people uncomfortable.”

Wright has called Israel an apartheid state and blamed “them Jews” for keeping him from speaking with President Barack Obama.

Additionally, in 2018, Warnock accused Israel of shooting unarmed Palestinian protesters. He went on in 2019 to sign a statement that compared Israel to “previous oppressive regimes” such as apartheid South Africa and East Germany. When Warnock was later asked about the apartheid comments, he failed to address the issue.

“Despite what he claims, Raphael Warnock has failed to adequately support Israel,” said campaign spokesman Will Kiley. “Now more than ever, we need a leader in Washington who will never shy away from supporting one of our closest allies, Israel, and its people. Raphael Warnock might claim that he is pro-Israel, but his words and actions say otherwise. We need to start believing the truth about Raphael Warnock instead of the lies he tells in order to gain political points.”
