ATLANTA – Today, Team Herschel released the following statement after the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office released a report that Raphael Warnock’s proposed price controls on prescription drugs would cause prices for new drugs to be more expensive, specifically the cost of drugs in the Medicaid program, which is used by low-income Americans.

Higher launch costs for new drugs would directly lead to increased costs for patients, pricing many Americans out of the market for potentially life-saving drugs, the opposite of what Raphael Warnock says he has been working on for the people of Georgia.

Raphael Warnock’s proposed price controls on prescription drugs would also disincentivize compeition in the free market, a method proven to drastically reduce costs for those in need.

“Raphael Warnock has done more to support Joe Biden than Georgians struggling to afford prescription drugs,” said spokesperson Mallory Blount. “Warnock’s reckless spending spree would hurt Georgians struggling with inflation even more. These radical price controls would curb the potential development of important drugs to treat cancer, ALS, and Alzheimer’s. Georgians need someone who will fight for lower costs and Raphael Warnock has consistently voted for legislation that only increases costs for hard-working Georgians.”
