ATLANTA – Today, Team Herschel released the following statement in response to Raphael Warnock’s newest ad.
This out-of-touch ad highlights Warnock’s desperation and lack of care for the people of Georgia and their families. Based on recent inflation numbers, we already know that Thanksgiving is going to cost Georgia families the most it has in decades thanks to Raphael Warnock’s blind loyalty to Joe Biden’s reckless spending agenda.
September’s inflation report shows double-digit increases for most of the dishes that make up a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. According to the American Farm Bureau Federation, the typical Thanksgiving dinner includes the staples of a 16-pound turkey, a gallon of milk, potatoes, ham, and dinner rolls.
Data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics show:
- An 8- to 16-pound turkey cost $1.99/lb last week, up from $1.15 a year ago, nearly a 75% increase
- Boneless ham has increased 13.6% in September from a year ago to $5.50/lb
- White potatoes have spiked 27.7% to $1.02/lb
- White bread has climbed 10.7% to $1.75/lb
- A gallon of whole milk has surged 16.6% to $4.18
- Canned fruits and vegetables are up 19%
- Chicken is up 17.2%
A wide range of miscellaneous ingredients has also increased at a significant rate over the last year, including:
- Butter is up 26.6%
- Flour is up 24.4%
- Spices and seasoning are up 13.8%
- Sugar is up 17.1%
- Sauces and gravies are up 16.3%
- Coffee is up 15.7%
- Eggs are up 30.5%
Overall, food prices have soared over the last year, with the BLS food index climbing at an annualized pace of 11.2%. Grocery store prices spiked 13% year-over-year in September, while the cost of visiting a restaurant has risen 8.5% compared to the same time a year ago.
“Countless Georgians won’t be able to afford Thanksgiving dinner this year due to Raphael Warnock’s reckless voting record in Washington,” said campaign spokesman Will Kiley. “His blind loyalty to Joe Biden has hurt Georgia families and given us historic inflation and empty grocery stores, but what is Warnock’s response? Make an out-of-touch and expensive commercial in a desperate attempt to save his campaign. The only way we can stop this out-of-control inflation is by electing Herschel Walker to the U.S. Senate and removing Raphael Warnock from office.”
